Falling In Love With Yourself On Second Sight – Part 2

We learned from Part one of this series that …..

1. We must come to grips with where we are, bury past disappointments, and begin to forgive ourselves.

And…

2. Life isn’t fair but that does not mean we should use it as a crutch. It only locks the heart. Embrace unfairness and begin the process of loving ourselves again.

As we continue on our journey to love ourselves again, we have to understand that love needs to be unconditional. When we put limits and restrictions on ourselves, we mistakenly eliminate ourselves from moving our lives forward. We get stuck in life’s disappointments feeling helpless. Well, feel that way no more. Add these tips to the ones above as we continue on this road of recovery.

1. Guess what? New opportunities arise out of disappointments. Just look at it from a different perspective. Ask yourself, “What can I learn from this experience? How can I tweak it to make it better? Or even, “Should I abandon this and seek out another opportunity?”. Asking yourself these questions will give clarity to your situation. It is also a way to lift your hearts spirit. Lifting your hearts spirit gives you the energy to keep it moving.

2. Next, develop a circle of compassionate people to be in your corner. Compassionate people always tend to give that extra support and encouragement when you are feeling down about yourself. They are able to see beyond the situation and/or circumstances. They use positive affirmations to boost your spirit. Once your spirit is lifted, you begin to fall in love with yourself again. So begin forming your circle now.

3. Now that you have done the above, fortify yourself by building up a reserve of love for yourself. Keep things that have gone right in your life at the forefront of your mind. Have the positive affirmations given by your compassionate circle hidden in your heart so you can pull them out when things get tough. Too many times we fortify ourselves with barriers or walls. That’s negative and produces no fruit. It’s really a cop-out. Do the opposite and see how your life will blossom and produce much fruit. Haven’t you heard that when you give plants lots of love and attention they grow better? Well, your life and heart are the same way.

Well, it looks like we are building up quite a repertoire to work with in our journey to self love. Stay tuned for the final part in this series that will bring it all together.

In the meantime, I remain in excellence…

I’m Back!

20120523-205734.jpg

I apologize for the hiatus but just had a lot going on. First, I got a promotion on my 9-5 which required me to relocate to another state. That in itself took up a lot of time. Second, my original FB page was hacked thereby shutting done my B Excellent FB fan page. The hackers also took over my personal AOL account where I kept a lot of very important files in folders. Unfortunately, Aol will not allow me access to the account without knowing the name of my first pet as a security question. Needless to say, when I gave it to them, they said it was incorrect (I even gave them several other names but none of them were the answer) so therefore I lost that account with my important files. Last, to be honest, I just kinda got bummed out with the whole hacking thing that I have not been inspired to write new posts. I spent an enormous amount of time trying to get everything reinstated and it just simply wore me out.

Well, my hiatus is over, I feel renewed, and I am ready to get back to it. The good news is, the time away gave me time to reflect on what it is I really want to do with B Excellent and where it is headed. This will remain my blog for my small business but I have some things to say that are best suited under another name and separate blog. Therefore, I am creating a spin off blog that will help me do just that. Watch for it soon!

Until then, I remain in Excellence

Thanks FB family! This post received the highest hits of all my post. A special thanks and blessings to all those who shared and reposted to your wall! Let’s keep it moving and repost! God bless! Stay tuned for Part 2 ———— Fall In Love With Yourself on Second Sight – Part 1

In life we can become disillusioned due to unfulfilled dreams, missed opportunities, working on a job that is not the dream job you had hoped, and so on and so on. These life disappointments can often lead to depression and hopelessness. Life, as it unfolds, can sometimes  leave you in wonderment as to where did you go wrong  and a case of “would’ve, could’ve, and should’ves” comes right behind it.

Well, listen up. There is always a second chance at anything that you had your heart set on. You just have to look at it again on second sight. Take a step back and view it with a different mindset. Believe me, I have been there and know that it can be done. Let’s explore a couple of ways on how you can fall in love with yourself again on second sight.

  1. Recover from letdowns and adversity. Yes, we must begin the healing process of coming to grips of where we are now and releasing  past letdowns and adversities. The word “recovery” simply means to return to a normal state of health, mind, and/or strength.  We need all of these to be in good health (notice I did not say perfect) in order to begin a new chapter in our lives. Look at past adversity as a lesson(s) learned for a better and brighter future. If you have to, have a funeral service for those “letdowns” and “adversities”. Give them a nice ceremonial burial (hard cry included). After your burial, vow to let those disappointments stay dead and vow never to resurrect them. It’s time to forgive, yourself and/or others, and move on.
  2. Next, Embrace unfairness & unlock love. Hey who ever said life is fair? When we feel we have been treated unfairly, we close ourselves off from receiving and giving full love. We only allow it in partially. We even tend to not love ourselves because we allowed “it” to happen to us (whatever your “it” may be). Well, that is just a crutch that’s used to divert you from pressing onward. Embrace what has happened, that it happened and begin to unlock your heart again to receive and give love fully to others and most of all to yourself. This not only goes for relationships, but it also goes for anything that has you feeling down and depressed in any area of your life. When you begin to do this, you can only begin to go higher and higher.

Review these 2 steps to give you the beginning of something wonderful – YOU! After all, you deserve it. Baby steps is all it takes.

Stay tuned for the next update as I continue this series on “Falling In Love With Yourself On Second Sight”.

What if I were to tell you there is one thing that drives all human actions?  Would you believe me?

Think about it.

  • Why do people smoke cigarettes when they know it will kill them?
  • Why do people eat fast food when they know it will make them fat?
  • Why do people spend $80,000 on a car when a $10,000 car gets you from…

Resolve to have a “Positive Attitude”

adults,African American females,African Americans,African descent, beautiful, beauty, businesses, businesswomen, cheerful, contemplation, day dreaming, females, happiness, intelligence,iStockphoto, people,Photographs, smiling, thinking, womenWell, we are now closing in on the end of the first month of the New Year. How are your New Year resolutions coming? Excercise program going well? Enrolled in a class you’ve always wanted to take? Or, are you spending more time with the family?

If you are waning on these or your specific “resolution”, why don’t you resolve to do something that will help you throughout your life and not just the beginning of a New Year. How about resolve that you will take on a positive attitude. Hmm…what could a positive attitude do for me? Well, I’m glad you asked!

A positive attitude can:

1. Give you power over situations that may seem defeating. Looking at a daunting situation with optimism allows you to move from being defeated to being a conqueror.

2. Give you the boost you need to go the extra mile in reaching any goal you set no matter what day of the year it is. It gives you the thought of “YES, I CAN!” When you have that feeling, you become unstoppable.

3. Alleviate stress. With a positive attitude, you approach life more calmly. Your feathers are not ruffled so easily. You look at the brighter side of things and tend to move freely through the situation. The benefit of having less stress is a longer and healthier life.

4. Makes you an all around happy person. Who wouldn’t want to be that person or be around a person like that? Positivism attracts good to you – good people, good opportunities, good everything for that matter. That happiness gives you the “umph” to keep on keeping on.

5. Lead to success. It’s like a battery that’s powered up and moving you to a successful life, career, relationships, family, and anything else you can think of or even set your hands to. Ahhh, the sweet smell of success…..

So when you think that this year is going to be just another year of failed resolutions, resolve to have a positive attitude. Change your thinking and begin to think positive. If you incorporate positive thinking into your daily life and make that your sole “resolution”, watch how all of your goals, wants, and wishes begin to be fulfilled. You can bet your bottom dollar on that!

Until next time, the Queen has spoken.

Let’s Clean House

My husband preached a powerful sermon a couple of Sundays called “It’s Time To Clean The Temple” John 2:13-16. It got me to thinking on how we sometimes have to take time to clean house both physically and mentally. As we near the close of another year, plan some “me” time to clean house so that when the New Year rolls around you can begin it with a clean slate.

First clean house physically. Have any closets, desks, kitchens that can use a good cleaning out? Of course you do!! We all do. Take a day (or 2 or 3) to de-clutter and rid yourself of the chaos. Clutter slows down our progress and takes precious time away from things you could be enjoying. Having an organized space gives you a fresh perspective. It also greatly reduces stress. Some of you may have read my FB posts during the summer where I de-cluttered and organized spaces before school began. Boy am I glad I did! We were able to start the school year off right without the added stress of “mom, where is my…..”. So get going and plan your day(s) to physically “clean house”.

Finally, take some time to “clean house” mentally. Don’t dwell on what you did not accomplish this year.  Do away with all negative thoughts. Do away with self-doubt. Do away with the “I cant’s” and the wish “I could’ve” and the “I should’ve”. Replace them all with things that you actually did accomplish this year. Think positive thoughts. Boost your self-confidence. Fill your mind with a whole lot of “I can’s” and “I will’s”. A new year simply means another chance. 2012 is your year. Own it and go for it!

Until next time, the Queen has spoken.

Create A 2011 “Ta-da!” List

Now what is a “Ta-da! “ list? My LinkedIn contact Tracy Ellis some time ago brought this concept to the world of “empowerment”. I grabbed hold of it fast because it was a concept that I never heard of but it made so much sense and inspired me to look at my accomplishments differently. We are always making lists of some kind – to do list, Christmas list, grocery list, etc., etc., etc. But why not create a list of things you have accomplished.  This list should nclude both big and small things as they both count.

Well my 2011 “Ta-da!” list goes like this:

1. De-cluttered and organized my spaces

2. Increased my speaking engagements by over 75%

3. Got a promotion doing something I love – teaching and training as a corporate instructor

4. Enhanced my blog

5. Stayed happily married another year (17 & counting)

Well, I have many more but I just wanted to give you an idea of what I mean.  Now, its your turn. Create your “ta-da” list. It will definitely make you feel better as you close out 2011. See, you are already smiling. Mission accomplished!
